Digital internal launch for BAT

Two days before the sales force was due to meet, the conference had to be canceled. At lightning speed, Contrast had to switch from live event to digital.

You did it! You turned the conference into a digital masterpiece!"

On a Monday in the spring of 2020, the sales force at BAT, British American Tobacco, was to gather at Hotel Stenungsbaden for a conference, as they usually do once a quarter. Two days before the meeting, it was announced that no large meetings could be held due to the Corona pandemic.

Mission Everything was booked and ready for the BAT quarterly meeting. The conference room was set up and the menu planned. The troubadour was practicing his repertoire and a comedian was working on his script. Contrast staff were already on site, preparing all the details for the guests' arrival. Then came the message from the Public Health Authority that large crowds were no longer allowed.

Being Smålanders, we hate to let things (especially money) go to waste. We therefore suggested redirecting the internal launch and party night at the hotel to a digital event. After all, the entertainment was already booked and there was a great venue to broadcast from. What's more, all the participants had already blocked the time in their calendars. BAT immediately sent a representative to Stenungsbaden to ensure that a digital event would be possible.

Solution Contrast, for its part, sent for its team of film and technical staff who immediately set up for the broadcast. The only thing missing was a host for the evening who could hold the threads together and speak to the participants. The only BAT employee on site was the representative sent by the client, Sebastian... With no previous experience, but a curious and positive attitude, he took on the role of host and became the face of the whole broadcast. He was well supported by our filming team, who were able to guide him throughout the broadcast.
