Report from the event industry 2025

"Nothing has been obvious." Contrast's CEO, Ola Comstedt, sums up the first half of 2025 from his favorite place on earth.

Ola Comstedt, CEO of Contrast AB, is sitting outside with a computer on his lap, in an idyllic Småland landscape among red cottages with white knots.

"Everyone is experiencing resistance now," said one of my long-time clients in a conversation. He wanted to comfort me because we are, as he said, "in a cyclical industry".

And he's right, brand experiences and events are at risk when customers hold back.

But this spring we have proven that it doesn't have to be that way!

Because we have worked hard. And I mean HARD. The sell-in has been more grueling than ever. Nothing comes for free right now.

But like the Smålanders we are in spirit, we do what it takes. We put our hands in our pockets and feed on!

Great awards and new business area launched

At the same time, we have actually also managed to reach several nice milestones:

  • medal for 𝗔̊𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝟮𝗕
  • the award 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
  • established 𝗕𝟮𝗖 as a completely new leg

I am proud of all the Contrasts. They refuse to let the headwinds set the pace. They solve problems on a daily basis, while also looking ahead and working to be relevant to our customers as we move forward.

B2C events and AI on the agenda this fall

Right now, our AI group is implementing new ways of working and solutions. Our new B2C leg has taken a natural place, and this summer we're taking new brands out into Sweden to meet consumers - with great real-life experiences.

Now it feels good to take a vacation and know that we made it, despite a shaky January.

Autumn is full of exciting new events. It will be a well-balanced mix of everything from great parties and trips to kick-offs and content-heavy meetings.

But before that... some well-deserved rest! I'll just check off a return trip to Greece first. 😎

 Happy summer, friends!

PS. My favorite place (one of them anyway) is Korrö in Småland, not far from where I grew up. I love the landscape of Småland, the red cottages, the rugged and uncomplicated.
